playing around!

|

I got a chance the other day to play with the Fuji Film FinePix 3800. It is a nice camera. As you may know, or not, I am looking into getting a new camera so I can ease into photography. Well I take that back because I guess I never ease into anything. Let's hit the ground running!

The Japanese have a saying, "Going my way?" wich basicly means that I am going to do something at my own pace, wether it be faster or slower than you are able to do it and it also conveys a feeling that you don't care. In Japan it is important to think about the situation, before one acts as our actions are judge vewry sternly and 'rocking the boat' is very frowned apon.

Well anyways I degressed. Sorry!

I was one of the offices that my company has and I was to instruct on the ladies on the use of this camera and how to take the best pictures of someone's veiny legs. At the max resalution that the Finepix was able to do I was still a little disapointed at the quality of the highest resalution that I got.

I have to remeber that it was only a 3.2 megapixel camera. I am really wanting to move in to the 6.3 megapixel Cannon EIS-10D, but I can't make the leap. Well I mean that I could get the camera but I am on a 'saving money budget' for my future move to Osaka, Japan. This camera is the top of the line currently for the cameras that I can really afford at a sub 1500.00 price.

I have to preface this statment because there are going to be some things that I will need to make this a resonable set up. Some of those things are going to be:

Memory Cards. This camera is capable of shotting a 3072 x 2048 image. In this mode the fine jpeg images are going to be about 2.5 megabytes. In other terms a 16 or 32 megabyte compact flash card isn't going to do the job unless you have 2 or 3 when you walk out the door.

Printer. You will want a printer that is able to print the images that you shoot. Well I know that I will. So I would figure another 150-400.00 for a decent set up.

Cd Rom Burner / DVD Burner. You will want to move those large RAW files off your local hard drive and onto a storage meduim. I would recomend a cd rom or dvd meduim because these meduims are going to last a long time without degrading. There is some arguement about this as you can read more about it here.

Lenses. You'll probably want to get at least lens for your new right so you can experiment with your new toy. The Canon EOS 10D comes with a Canon 24-85MM lens. It seems that the wide angle lenses are really popular so I think I would have to have one in my camera bag also.

Tripod. I am thinking that you will want one of these also because if you are like me with milkshake hands, then it will be neccessary of those awesome shots. You can probably get by, but let me tell you that the feeling is horrible when you take your roll of nice film to the developer and pick it up and find out how bad the pictures turned out.

So after it is all said and done you may have spent 2000.00-2500.00 on a new hobby. Please have fun and let me know if you post any of your pictures on the internet.
